Accommodations in the Wildwoods
Accommodations available in Wildwood include home rentals, motels and hotels. The majority of visitors will most likely stay in a hotel or motel. The Wildwoods are noted for their collection of Doo Wop motels. The quality of the motels will vary considerably so it is best to research beforehand. Also, the extremely dynamic Real Estate environment and rapidly escalating land values has resulted in the demise of many of these motels in order to make room for new construction. Many of the Motels that remain are being renovated as condominiums.

When choosing your accommodations keep in mind that there can be a lot of variation in quality, cleanliness and service. many of the available accommodations are efficiency suites with the kitchenette or a kitchen with all the necessary cooking utensils. Almost all are air conditioned and most all offer all off street parking. the parking in most cases is limited to one car per unit. Internet connectivity wireless or otherwise, is a little harder to find. Most of the motels will have a pool which in many cases is heated. In addition most of the motels with a pool will also have a kiddy pool. Barbecue and picnic facilities at the motel also seem to be very popular. Many of the motels are completely non smoking in the rooms (this may not always be true of the grounds though).
Many people who visit Wildwood will do so for a week at a time. A large number of the motels offer laundry facilities. There also a number of Laundromats throughout the wild woods
The casinos of Atlantic city and are privately a half hour north on the garden state parkway. Many of the motels offer limousine service to Atlantic city. (usually for an additional fee )
The age of many of these motels means that they were designed before handicapped accessibility was taken seriously. However you will find that many of them advertise elevator service on their web sites. This is no guarantee of accessibility but it will help locate those lodgings that may be more accessible.
When planning your trip to Wildwood, keep in mind that tradition of senior week. This is a week when high school seniors traveled to the shore after graduation. The increase in the drinking age and stepped up enforcement of laws by authorities has made senior week a little less raucous that was in years gone by. However it is still a week when there are a lot of young people experiencing their independence. Prom season also leads a large number of young people to Wildwood.

Here are some things to consider when choosing a place to stay:

Parking - Parking is tight in Wildwood so make sure that there will be adequate parking available for you. Many motels will only allow one vehicle per room.

Nightlife - Depending on your preferences, you might want to be right next to the nightlife or further away.

Proximity to the Beach and Boardwalk. If you like either, you will probably want to be within easy walking distance.

Many of the motels do not have a website. You will also find that many of the website owners have let the domain name registration lapse. We do our best to keep the list updates.
